Fireworks on 17th , 18th August

I was there for both nights..
Was really at the bad locations on both days but still can’t deny that despite that it was really a breath taking view.. a beautiful sight.. 15mins ..
say short not short.. say long not long..
but Singaporeans as “kiasu” as can be.., the whole place was packed like !@#$%^
and the whole area of marina bay, the bridge, the merlion park..
Everywhere was filled with tons and tons of people..one would really have thought that the whole Singapore came down to watch

But then again.. it contributes to pollution. the sky was still smoky after fireworks had ended for a while. ..these "free" stuff...always have been paid for. Even if it were to be privately sponsored, still isn’t it a little extravagant and on the high cost side?(at least $100k and above?)
Literally money going up in smoke. ..within minutes..with just a “boom”!
This money of course could have better use to be able to spend elsewhere...feeding the poor, housing the destitute and helping people get re-trained or trained after retrenchment.
