with the recent roller-coaster like events taking place in yangon, the very heart of Myanmar..with the world famous "BIg BOYS" standing by, to sit and stare, and passing mere comments, with no one daring to step out and help...

while many with strong conviction and faith, join in thousands others like them...to do what they believe is their only way to show at their most desperate moments..

so

let us not ask why but more of what we can do...for our needy motherland!

even if it is just a prayer or mere financial support, let''s give our best for a tiny effort accumulated together can bring about a mega force..

if we could hold on together!!!!!

Dear Mommy,
I am in Heaven now... I so wanted to be your little girl.
I don't quite understand what has happened.
I was so excited when I began realizing my existence.
I was in a dark, yet comfortable place. I saw I had fingers and toes.
I was pretty far along in my developing, yet not near ready to leave my surroundings. I spent most of my time thinking or sleeping.

Even from my earliest days, I felt a special bonding between you and me. Sometimes I heard you crying and I cried with you.
Sometimes you would yell or scream, then cry.
I heard Daddy yelling back. I was sad, and hoped you would be better soon.
I wondered why you cried so much.
One day you cried almost all of the day.
I hurt for you.
I couldn't imagine why you were so unhappy.
That same day, the most horrible thing happened.
A very mean monster came into that warm, comfortable place I was in.
I was so scared, I began screaming, but you never once tried to help me.
Maybe you never heard me.
The monster got closer and closer as I was screaming and screaming, "Mommy, Mommy, help me please; Mommy, help me."
Complete terror is all I felt.
I screamed and screamed until I thought I couldn't anymore.
Then the monster started ripping my arms off.
It hurt so bad; the pain I can never explain. It didn't stop. Oh, how I begged it to stop.
I screamed in horror as it ripped my leg off.
Though I was in such complete pain, I was dying.
I knew I would never see your face or hear you say how much you love me. I wanted to make all your tears go away.
I had so many plans to make you happy.
Now I couldn't; all my dreams were shattered.
Though I was in utter pain and horror, I felt the pain of my heart breaking, above all. I wanted more than anything to be your daughter.
No use now, for I was dying a painful death.
I could only imagine the terrible things that they had done to you.
I wanted to tell you that I love you before I was gone, but I didn't know the words you could understand.
And soon, I no longer had the breath to say them; I was dead.
I felt myself rising. I was being carried by a huge angel into a big beautiful place. I was still crying, but the physical pain was gone.
The angel took me away to a wonderful place... Then I was happy. I asked the angel what was the thing was that killed me. He answered, "Abortion". I am sorry, for I know how it feels." I don't know what abortion is; I guess that's the name of the monster. I'm writing to say that I love you and to tell you how much I wanted to be your little girl.
I tried very hard to live.
I wanted to live. I had the will, but I couldn't; the monster was too powerful.
It sucked my arms and legs off and finally got all of me.
It was impossible to live.
I just wanted you to know I tried to stay with you.
I didn't want to die. Also, Mommy, please watch out for that abortion monster. Mommy, I love you and I would hate for you to go through the kind of pain I did.

A time for SELF-REFLECTION - 911

This particular piece of article (shown below)is one of the few which I wrote for “Pattra” a newsletter of the NTU Buddhist Society and Alumni back in 2001 September-December issue. 911 is here once more! I can’t help but post it up here to remind myself and those who might have the chance to read this post, to do self-reflection once in awhile for it really works wonder..

As destruction’s dust settled on USA tragedy that took place on the fateful day - -11th of September, it blanked not only one nation but also all of humanity in a mourning shroud. Hearts indeed break worldwide over the untraceable losses. The attack of the World Trade Centre in New York City in USA had shed some light in reminding us once again that things were not perpetual and the fragility of our fleeting existence. What must we do differently? What needs to be changed about our attitudes, values and priorities?
Recalling back on what Brother Melvin had touched on regards to the four Nobel Truths, in life letting go is not the end of everything but it is just the beginning, the starting point of another follow up. In life, there is bound to be sufferings or dissatisfactions (dukkha) arising from problems. Realistically, these problems are none other than conflicts between our desires and our facts of life. We may have seen many people around us employing different methods to tackle and solve the problems. However, self-reflection might prove to be the best possible way, the best medication for “stress” or other “side-effects” from the problems we ourselves created!
Reflection. A simple word and yet when we think of it, so many different connotations come to mind. Some think about the physical image they see on the other side of mirror. While some think reflection as the last resort to solve problems and they often flee from it like plague, seeking safety in finding scapegoat for their problems, which give rise to a lot of finger pointing and blaming game. Ironically, others think of it as a solution to solve the problems they are facing or a breather from their hectic lifestyle.
Hence as you can see with reflection we can change. We can learn to take up responsibility and face the truth bravely, accept the reality as it is. We will learn to ask where our dissatisfaction come from, why are we feeling that way and how can we solve it. As the Four Nobel Truths suggest there must be the recognition that there is “dukkha” and we should learn to understand dukkha, not just try to get rid of it. Additionally, understanding that there is the cessation of dukkha is also essential.
Many a times when we do reflection and face ourselves alone, we hear our hearts and we know where our problems lie or what our aspirations are. We just need humility and courage to work it out and face it.

First weekend of Sept

It was a fast speed roller coaster ride for me this week end..
I have had quality time..of toiling hard work..of enjoyment and of much suffering..
The only pity was that it ended with a bad ending as I have to spend the last moments of the weekend in pain, agony and sufferings.
ops.
anyway glad it was over...really looking forward to much more fruitful weekends..for this favourite month of mine :)

3 Aspects in LIFE!

`what you are doing `what you should do `what you want to do

these three aspects, usually don't run in parallel!
and I guess lucky is the fellower who get to do two or more of them pop naw..
as for me, i guess i am a little into one of these zones currently, which i supposed is really not too good!! someday somehow at sometime..

the first week of sept ..

This week,i went into "silence"..it was what i would call a learn-how-to-be-myself-week!

i did not initiate sms naw did i call up anyone just to talk or out of loneliness !!!! And by doing so, i am not sure if someone would think that i have been out with "A NEW GUY", and having happy moments with HIM!

Perhaps only Buddha and my own conscious can testify my "quietness"! or perhaps the pc at both the workplace and home will be able to tell you how closely I have worked with them..

or perhaps the korean dramas which I manage to catch in between breaks and the novels which I stole some moments before sleep to read on..shall stand up for me!

With the approach of weekend, I am not sure how next week will be like but I sure hope life will be better..so till then..

I will be with my report, papers, korean drama and novels!

SINGAPORE : Police have issued a stern warning against those who organise and participate in illegal assemblies.

This follows an assembly of a group of Myanmar nationals dressed in white at the Orchard MRT Station last Saturday (25 August). They later headed for the City Hall MRT Station. Police say the the intent of the assembly, which did not have a police permit, was to show support for fellow Myanmese who had been protesting back in Myanmar. In the past few weeks, the capital of Yangon and other townships in in Myanmar have witnessed a series of protests against fuel price hikes, leading to several arrests. Investigations indicate the assembly in Singapore was organised through the short messaging service (SMS). Twenty-three Myanmese nationals are now assisting police in their investigations, including three who are believed to have initiated the SMS messages. Following reports that there will be another similar assembly this weekend, Police have reminded the public they should not participate in an assembly or procession that does not have a permit as it is an offence to do so. - CNA
